An honest comparison

Looking for a DONATION Pro alternative?

DONATION Pro is Software4Nonprofits' relaunch of the Flipcause platform, under new, more established ownership. Here's what changed, what didn't, and why some ex-Flipcause nonprofits are choosing to hold their own Stripe account instead.

What is DONATION Pro?

DONATION Pro is the product Software4Nonprofits built by buying Flipcause's technology out of its Chapter 7 bankruptcy in March 2026, for roughly $400,000. Software4Nonprofits is a real, longer-running company known for fund-accounting and donation-tracking software for nonprofits, and it reportedly moved more than 8,500 organizations onto DONATION Pro.

That's a meaningfully more stable owner than Flipcause was at the end. What's worth checking carefully, though, is whether the underlying platform structure changed along with the ownership. Based on public information, DONATION Pro still charges a donor-covered processing fee of 4.9% + $0.30 and still functions as a platform-managed payment flow rather than connecting a nonprofit directly to its own Stripe account. New owner, same architecture.

*Per software4nonprofits.com/pricing (August 2026). Software4Nonprofits is a legitimate, longer-running company, and DONATION Pro is a reasonable option for some nonprofits. When DONATION Pro might still be right for you

Fairness matters here, so a few real reasons DONATION Pro could be the better fit for your organization:

Fund accounting

If your nonprofit already uses Software4Nonprofits' fund-accounting tools, keeping donation data in the same ecosystem can simplify your books.

QuickBooks integration

Software4Nonprofits has a longer track record integrating with QuickBooks than most newer entrants, which matters if your bookkeeper relies on that workflow.

Larger, established track record

Software4Nonprofits has operated longer than Flipcause had and isn't emerging from bankruptcy, which is a legitimate stability consideration on its own.

Already migrated

If you were automatically moved from Flipcause to DONATION Pro, staying put avoids moving donor data twice in the same year, if the fee structure is acceptable to your board.

Migration path from DONATION Pro to HeartBridge

If the fee structure or the platform-managed payment flow doesn't work for your board, here's how the move looks.

Create a free HeartBridge account
1

Export from DONATION Pro

Download your donor list, donation history, and recurring-giving records as CSV. Our export guide covers the steps if your data is still on the legacy Flipcause interface.

2

Connect your own Stripe account

Link the Stripe account you already have, or open a new one, so donations settle directly to your bank instead of through a platform-managed flow.

3

Import donors and re-invite recurring givers

Upload your CSV into your HeartBridge donor CRM, then send a re-enrollment email to recurring donors, since their saved cards can't transfer directly.

DONATION Pro alternative FAQ

DONATION Pro is Software4Nonprofits' relaunch of the Flipcause fundraising platform, which it bought out of Flipcause's bankruptcy for roughly $400,000 in March 2026. It runs on the acquired Flipcause codebase under new ownership and reportedly serves more than 8,500 organizations.

Software4Nonprofits is a separate, established company from Flipcause, so DONATION Pro isn't inheriting Flipcause's bankruptcy. But public information suggests it kept a similar underlying structure: a donor-covered processing fee (4.9% + $0.30) and a platform-managed payment flow rather than a nonprofit's own Stripe account. Evaluate it on that structure, not just on who owns it now.

DONATION Pro charges donors 4.9% + $0.30 per transaction, marketed as "1.5% effective" because donors, not the nonprofit, cover the cost. HeartBridge processes on the nonprofit's own Stripe account at Stripe's standard rate of 2.9% + $0.30, with no added platform fee. On $100,000 of annual giving, that difference is real money either kept by donors or reaching the mission faster.

Software4Nonprofits publishes its own current pricing for DONATION Pro; check their site for tiers and exact costs, since pricing can change. HeartBridge, by comparison, offers a free Starter tier, a $29/month Professional tier, and custom Enterprise pricing, with Stripe's standard processing rate applying on top.

If your nonprofit already relies on Software4Nonprofits' other products (like DONATION or fund-accounting tools) and values a longer operating history with QuickBooks integration, staying within that ecosystem may be simpler than switching. DONATION Pro can also make sense if you were already migrated from Flipcause and don't want to move donor data twice in one year.

Export your donor list, donation history, and recurring-giving records as CSV from DONATION Pro, connect your own Stripe account to HeartBridge, and import your CSV into your HeartBridge donor CRM. Because DONATION Pro holds recurring donors' payment methods internally, you'll re-invite recurring donors to re-enroll once your new page is live.
